Hiking

Kapalua Coastal Trail is one of three hiking trails in Kapalua. This trail is great for walkers, trail runners, and nature walkers. Start at Kapalua Bay on one end, D.T. Fleming Beach on the other. You can also access the trail from Oneloa Bay, The Bay Villas beach access parking lot, or at the Ritz-Carlton. Open from Sunrise to Sunset, you have all day to explore the 3.1 kilometers out and back trail.

The Village Walking Trails offer you six different trails, ranging from easy to difficult. These paths follow the established cart trails of the former Village Golf Course. Should you venture to the top of the course, you will be rewarded with an extraordinary panoramic view, and a hidden lake stocked with ducks.

For the most daring hikers, the Mahana ridge trail offers you a strenuous 20 plus miles, roundtrip. This hike will take you through rough lands used during the Honolua Ranch-era, to cultivate coffee and pineapple. This ridge connects the Maunalei Arboretum to Kapalua Resort, dazzling you with views of Mokupe’a and Honokahua Gulches.

Beaches

When you have exhausted your legs with nature walks, hikes, and trail runs, you will want to recharge on a beach. You have plenty of beaches to choose from in the area for your reenergizing. Kapalua Bay Beach is a smaller beach, offering you a great spot for snorkeling. Kapalua Beach is also great for snorkeling. Head to Honolua Bay for more secluded snorkeling and surfing. If you prefer a busier beach, Napili Bay is for you. Here you will find fine golden sand to sink your toes in, and beautiful waters for swimming, snorkeling, and surfing. Another good sport to surf or snorkel is Fleming Beach.

Golfing

After all the beach fun you will have, be sure you have enough energy to hit the links. There are two magnificent courses here for you to enjoy. Explore the magnificent Kapalua Bay Golf Course, featuring the only hole on the island that plays over the ocean. The Bay Course has hosted over 20 professional tournaments. You will definitely want this feather in your cap.

The Plantation Course is consistently ranked as the number one golf course in Hawaii. You will marvel at this course located on the base of the West Maui Mountains, offering you breathtaking ocean views from almost every hole. The course record is a five-way tie at 62. Will you aim to join the golf legends or will you be satisfied with possibly the longest drive of your life on hole 18?

Dining

There are about half a dozen restaurants along the shore. Boasting seafood, international, American, and Hawaiian fare, Meriman’s Maui is right near the Kapalua Coastal Trailhead. You will find Gazebo restaurant near Napili Bay. The Burger Shack gives you American, Hawaiian, and international eats right in DT Fleming park. You will find the majority of restaurants near the Bay Golf Course in Kapalua.

Whether you are looking for a modest strip mall, beachside boutiques, or outlet malls, Kapalua has you covered. Indulge your luxurious side at the famous Louis Vitton in Whalers Village shopping center. Make sure to get some good deals at the world’s only oceanfront Outlet Mall.
